Total calls for 2007 was 812. This is down about 5% from last year, but can be attributed to providing less Paramedic assists than in 2006. Cambria county 9-1-1 is moving to a new dispatch and operations frequency in the spring of 2008. We have purchased over $17,000 worth of radios and pagers for our personnel with the assistance of the PA State Fire Grant and a DCED Grant from State Representative Gary Haluska;s office. Board of Director's Meeting January 28, 2007 at 7:00 PM at the Ambulance Station !! S.A.E.M.S. Council has provided the service with Carbon Monoxide gas meters for our crews to use when entering residences for crew and patient safety. Many people in the community do not have Carbon Monoxide detectors in their homes and they may become ill from the carbon monoxide and not even realize that is why they are feeling ill. These new meters will help with diagnosing medical problems that arise from exposure to Carbon Monoxide, which is a colorless and odorless gas. Station 69 has just received our new CPAP OS systems, these uints were purchased with the annual EMSOF funds provided through Southern Alleghenies EMS Council. These units will be used for Severe Shortness of Breath patients and will keep these patient's from being intubated and put on a ventilator. They will decrease days spent in the hospital and save insurance dollars. |
